Dublin born Annie Mac, Radio 1’s ‘Queen of Dance’, has spent the last decade carving out a career as a broadcaster, tastemaker, talent-finder and international DJ.

Graduating from Queens University in Belfast where she studied English Literature, Annie’s first taste of the radio world was as a freelance broadcasting assistant and presenter for the Student Broadcast Network. Having secured a job in production at Radio 1 her natural flair and passion for music got her noticed by management and she began filling in for Mary Anne Hobbs. In 2004 at the age of 26 she was given her own show on the network playing her trademark selection of cutting-edge dance music and gaining a host of loyal followers from around the world.

In 2009 Annie took the reigns of the prestigious Friday night 7-9pm slot on Radio 1, helping the nation to officially start the weekend. She also closed the weekend on the station with her 10pm-midnight Radio 1 new music show on Sunday evenings. In March 2015 Annie took over hosting the Weekday 7-9pm show on Radio 1.

Naturally an on-screen television presenting career developed alongside her radio broadcasting and Annie has become not only an established face of music programming, hosting music based shows for Channel 4 (iTunes Festival, Ibiza Rocks, House Party, Superstar DJ’s) and BBC (Sound, Glastonbury, T In The Park) but has also covered subjects as diverse as fly-fishing for the Culture Show and a documentary on WAGS for BBC3.

Pivotal to all of this is Annie’s huge success as a live DJ (in demand from stadiums to superclubs worldwide) and her firm place as part of the dance music establishment. Her own Annie Mac Presents brand (AMP), which started out as a club night at Fabric in London, now hosts stellar line-ups personally curated by Annie on international stages, tents at major festivals and club nights throughout the UK. On top of all this, AMP gives us one of the biggest compilation CDs in the dance music calendar with 2013 being the fifth compilation release.

Annie launched her own festival Lost and Found in Malta in 2015.
